The beginnings of Bright Ideas Accountancy

After spotting a gap in the market for an accountancy offering that incorporated modern technology, Michael McCullion set up Bright Ideas Accountancy.

Michael was working for companies that were still using spreadsheets and physical receipts when he realised that accounting had to be taken into the digital age. In 2014, Bright Ideas was born – with a one-of-a-kind offering.

Early FreeAgent adopters

Michael recognised the potential of FreeAgent from the get-go. He soon integrated it into Bright Ideas’ offering so that our clients could get a clear picture of their finances and save a significant amount of time. With a 24/7 view, it has allowed us to provide a much more personalised service and give proactive advice.

Dedicated accountant

But we wanted to offer more than just a modern tech set-up. We also focused our service around providing a dedicated accountant – one named individual that our clients would always speak to. They provide all the services our clients require, ensuring we’re the one-stop shop for contractors, freelancers, and business owners.

Full service, one fee

Our fully comprehensive service is all rolled up into one monthly fee. We give our clients peace of mind with the assurance that there are no out-of-package charges they’ll suddenly be invoiced for.

Our successes so far…

Our unique offering has seen us reach some major milestones in our time. In 2017, we hit 100 clients. By 2018, this had doubled. And by 2023, we had reached over 1,000. We’ve also gone from a one-man band of just Michael to a team of nine extraordinary people.
