A hiccup in your finances might go undetected for weeks or months, by which point the damage has already been inflicted on your long-term viability. Without that visibility, you’ll start making poor decisions, advised by someone who doesn’t know (or care to know) the subtleties of your income.
Furthermore, you’re wasting money on the service itself. If you’re a freelancer or contractor, this isn’t a frivolous expense. Some accountants will push for higher pricing without, in actual fact, boosting your earning potential or the value they bring to the table. Is this a risk worth taking?
